In 2018 Andy followed his wife Debbie into a journey of physical and mindful improvement with park-based circuit training, Pilates and Yoga. Debbie with her background in Holistic Beauty and Aromatherapy with interests in Reiki and Reflexology discovered Gong Master Mark Swan with whom we have benefitted from numerous public and private Gong Baths. A chance encounter in the enchanted village of Boscastle, Cornwall has also led us to join weekly meditation classes.
Inspired by Mark and his teachings, Andy started playing Gong and now a qualified practitioner is providing the Gong Bath experience.
With our busy lives it can sometimes be difficult to completely let go. Meditation, in all its forms, can clear a busy mind and provide focus. A Gong Bath, using sound from Gongs and singing bowls, will ‘test your resistance to letting go’. With an open mind it will provide you the opportunity to achieve a deeply relaxed or meditative state.
What you will gain is not prescriptive. Everyone’s Gong experience is different and personal to you. You may want to discuss that experience with others after the class or wait to digest and then discuss or even keep it personal. No guarantees but a common outcome is a clearer mind and improved sleep – again it’s your experience.
The Gong Bath will start with an introduction, I will then take you through a spoken relaxation meditation into the Sound Bath itself. You can expect to hear an array of Gongs, Sound Bowls and chimes. At the end I will bring you back with a spoken ‘wakening’. This is a 60 minute session unless otherwise arranged.
You will need a Yoga mat to lie on, a blanket to cover yourself, an eye mask or covering and something such as a small cushion for under your head. You may also want to have a small bolster or cushion under your knees. Clothing should be loose and comfortable and you will be leaving your shoes at the entrance. Comfort is the key here!
The sound receiving position is the traditional Yoga Savasana, lying on your back, arms by your side, palms up. We can cater for you if you have any issues laying flat where you can sit up or even sit in a chair (just don’t fall asleep!). Let us know your needs.
If meeting at an in-person Gong Bath, please turn off your mobile phones.
Due to the nature of the session late comers cannot be allowed in, and unless an emergency with you, you need to plan your time to stay to the end.
